Education and training
Dr Olena Antonyuk, MD, MSc, is an internist, endocrinologist and nephrologist with 15 years of clinical experience.
Dr Olena Antonyuk graduated with honours from Bogomolets National Medical University, Medical Faculty No. 1, specialising in General Medicine (2011).
In 2011–2012 she completed a Master’s programme in Medical and Preventive Care and obtained a Master’s degree (2012).
She completed internships in General Hygiene (2011–2012) and Internal Medicine (2014–2016, contract-based). She holds specialist qualifications in Endocrinology (2016), Nephrology (2024) and Hematology (2025), obtained at the Shupyk National Medical Academy / National University of Health of Ukraine.
She has a second qualification category in therapy and endocrinology and is a board-certified specialist in nephrology and hematology.
Since 2016 Dr Antonyuk has been working at the Clinical and Consultative Department of the “Oberig” Universal Clinic, currently as an endocrinologist, internist and nephrologist.
In October 2020 – January 2021 she served as Head of the Adult Inpatient Department specialised in COVID‑19 care at the “Oberig” Universal Clinic.
Since September 2012 she has been an assistant at the Department of Public Health of Bogomolets National Medical University and is currently working on her PhD thesis.
Her military service includes a term in military unit A3838 (2017–2018).
In March 2022 she was mobilised, and since May 2022 has been serving as a physician (ordinator) at the Nephrology Clinic with intensive care and chemotherapy units at the National Military Medical Clinical Centre “Main Military Clinical Hospital”.
In 2023–2024 she acted as Head of the Nephrology Clinic with wards for patients with endocrine disorders.
She holds the rank of major of the Medical Service (officer 3) and has the legal status of a combatant.
Conferences, further training and fellowships
She participates annually in the European Congress of Endocrinology (2020, 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025), presenting electronic poster abstracts.
She took part online in the 6th–8th McMaster International Review Course in Internal Medicine (MIRCIM) in 2021–2023. Her fellowships include the 24th and 25th ESE Postgraduate Training Courses in Clinical Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism (Bled, Slovenia, 2019; Rotterdam, the Netherlands, 2019) and participation in the International Consortium for Health Outcomes Measurement (ICHOM) meeting in Barcelona (2023).
She delivered a talk at the International Symposium on Comorbid Insomnia in Varna, Bulgaria (2025).
In 2012 and 2013 she was a participant of the Ukrainian–Swedish Epidemiology Training for Young Scientists.
Continuing professional development (2024–2025)
She completed thematic advanced training in Clinical Pharmacology in Medical Practice (Bogomolets National Medical University, 20.01.2025–31.01.2025).
She undertook a thematic course “Insulin therapy for type 1 and type 2 diabetes in various clinical situations. Blended learning with elements of distance education” at the Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine (21.02.2024–06.03.2024).
She completed specialisation cycles in nephrology (March–October 2024) and hematology (February–June 2025) at the Shupyk National University of Health of Ukraine.
Scientific cooperation and IT
Since May 2025 she has been working as a data analyst for ClinCompetence GbmH (Germany, remote). Her IT‑related education includes certificates from Hillel Academy in QA Manual (2023) and Data Analysis Basic (2025). She is the developer of a web‑based risk calculator for acute kidney injury and in‑hospital mortality in patients with COVID‑19 and has acted as a validator of the Berlin Questionnaire for obstructive sleep apnoea screening.
Awards and distinctions
Her awards include a Certificate of Appreciation from the Presidium of the National Academy of Medical Sciences of Ukraine (2012), a Letter of Appreciation from the Academic Council of Bogomolets National Medical University (2019), and commendations from the command of military units A3838 and A0665 (2017–2018). She has been awarded the Third‑class Distinction of the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine (2021) and the honorary badge “Silver Cross” of the Commander‑in‑Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (Order No. 647 of 29.03.2023); she also holds the badge “War Veteran” (Combatant, 2023) and the Presidential decoration “For the Defence of Ukraine”. In 2001 she received a Presidential Commendation of Ukraine for winning the International Competition of Ukrainian Language Experts.
Languages
She holds Aptis (2019) and IELTS Academic (2021) certificates confirming English language proficiency at level B2 and provides consultations in English.
Dr Antonyuk is the author of 66 scientific papers; ORCID: 0000-0002-3411-196X.
Her PhD thesis is entitled “Medical and social justification for improving the system of medical care for patients with COVID‑19 and metabolic disorders”.
Her research interests include personalised care, optimisation of medical care for patients with COVID‑19 taking into account risk factors and comorbidity, health promotion, risk factor assessment and lifestyle modification, endocrinology, diabetology, rheumatology, data analysis and modelling, and value‑based healthcare.
She is a member of the European Society of Endocrinology (ESE) and the European Young Endocrinologists and Scientists (EYES).
She serves as a reviewer for journals such as Military Medicine, NEJM Catalyst Innovations in Care Delivery, and Frontiers in Nutrition.
She is a co‑author of a chapter in the international textbook “Resistance in Hematologic Malignancies and Cancer” (Oxford University Press): Husieva S.A., Antonyuk O.Ya., Husieva V. (2025). Drug classification for the treatment of hematologic malignancies.
Dr Antonyuk is also a speaker on health promotion for television, radio and online media and an expert for the “Vikna” (STB) TV news programme.
