Indications for pituitary MRI
MRI of the pituitary gland is performed in case of suspected pathological changes in the pituitary gland - both congenital and acquired pathology. MRI of the pituitary gland can detect cysts, inflammation and tumors of the pituitary gland (adenomas). To detect microadenoma of the pituitary gland, an MRI examination is performed with a contrast agent. With the help of pituitary MRI, such diseases as Cushing's syndrome, acromegaly, diabetes insipidus, gigantism can be detected.
mammary gland dysfunction (prolactin deficiency)
- hypothyroidism
- diabetes insipidus
- obesity of the steroid type;
- pituitary dwarfism
- change in facial features with enlargement of certain parts of the face, increase in the size of bones, feet
- hypopituatarism (sharp decrease or cessation of secretion of pituitary hormones)
