About the direction

We use high-class MRI equipment.

  • The strength of the magnet MRI Magnetom Vida is twice that of standard MRI - 3 versus 1.5 Tesla (Tesla is a unit of measurement of magnetic induction).
  • This provides extremely clear and detailed images for a shorter examination time.
  • The Magnetom Vida can be used for MRI of the heart, lungs and intestines. Previously, MRI was not used to study these organs through their mobility.
  • Magnetom Vida makes it possible to carry out examination without holding the breath, which is important for children and patients in serious condition.
  • It is also quieter than conventional MRI.

Preparing for an MRI

What do you need to know before starting the study?

  • MRI examination is performed according to medical indications. If there are data from previous CT or MRI examinations (conclusions, digital media), it is advisable to transfer them to a radiologist;
  • The presence of any foreign objects in the patient's body containing metal (for example, metal clips on vessels, retainers, piercings, brace systems, implanted hip and knee joints, metal and magnetic implants, etc.) may be a contraindication for conducting the study. Be sure to warn the medical staff before the examination and provide the product passport to the radiologist;
  • WARNING! In the presence of a brace system (an orthodontic structure on the teeth to correct the bite), the MRI examination has certain limitations: MRI of the head and neck organs is NOT performed; for an MRI examination of other parts of the body, the metal wire that fastens the braces must first be removed, because it is possible to get burns of the mucous membrane of the oral cavity. After the MRI, the metal wire that holds the braces must be put back in place by your dentist.
  • If there is an implanted artificial pacemaker, the study cannot be conducted;
  • For electronic implants in the auditory canal, first hand over the passport of the product to the radiologist;
  • Before the examination, you must remove your watch, jewelry, metal objects, removable dentures, remove all metal objects (keys, coins, etc.), electronic devices, magnetic media from your pockets. Removed jewelry and items should be placed in the individual locker provided to you.

Preparation for examination

  • When examining the brain or facial skull (MRI of the head), it is recommended to refrain from applying makeup or remove it before the examination itself;
  • When examining organs of the abdominal cavity, organs of the pelvis, MR-cholangiopancreatography and MRI of the whole body - abstain from food for 4 hours. before the examination. Keep in mind that the study will last up to 30-45 minutes, in rare cases up to 60 minutes;
  • When examining the pelvic organs, the bladder should be moderately full;
    Examination of the mammary glands is carried out regardless of the day of the menstrual cycle;
    During MR enterography (on the MRI machine Siemens Magnetom Vida 3 Tesla), you should not eat solid food on the eve of the study (liquid food for dinner the day before the study), drink more (water, tea) and refrain from eating on the day of the study; purchase a preparation for cleaning the intestine (Diagnol or Moviprep), which will be prepared directly in the diagnostic department 1 hour before the examination. The patient (patients) should come 1 hour before the start of the examination itself for preparation - drinking the drug solution during this hour;
    MRI for children is performed only on the referral of the attending physician. Children under the age of 6 may need sedation or anesthesia, so it is recommended to make an appointment with a pediatric anesthesiologist in advance. During the examination, the child should be dressed in natural cotton clothes without metal buttons/buttons. Conducting an MRI with contrast to children under 1 year must be strictly justified, the presence of a referral is a mandatory condition;
  • The examination of any area during an existing pregnancy in a woman requires a preliminary consultation with a gynecologist and a clinical justification for conducting an MRI examination;

Preparation for MRI with contrast enhancement

If you have had acute adverse reactions to the contrast agent, such as allergic reactions, after oral, intracavitary or intravascular administration, you need to make an appointment with an anesthesiologist in advance to resolve the issue of specific preparation that will make it possible to safely perform an MRI.

In order to conduct a safe examination with contrast enhancement, it is recommended to determine the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) based on the level of creatinine in the blood in the following cases:

  • Age > 65 years
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney failure.

    To make the calculation, it is necessary to take a blood creatinine test. The calculation can be carried out in the laboratory, if it provides one, OR independently according to the formula: GFR = ((140 - age) x body weight (kg)) / (810 x creatinine in mmol/l) OR by the link: http:// inephrology.kiev.ua/?page_id=1059

    If the value of GFR < 30 ml/min/1.73 m² (severe renal failure) - MRI with contrast enhancement cannot be performed.

    * In patients before and after liver transplantation surgery, MRI with contrast enhancement can be performed only after a careful evaluation of the risk/benefit ratio by the attending physician.

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) Why "Oberig"?

The new building of the Oberig clinic uses the highest class device - MRI Magnetom Vida.

Its magnet strength is twice as high as standard MRI - 3 vs. 1.5 Tesla (Tesla - unit of measurement) magnetic induction).

This provides exceptional clarity and detail of the image with a shorter duration of the examination.

On the device Magnetom Vida you can perform MRI of the heart, lungs and intestines. Previously, MRI has not been used to examine these organs because of their motility.

Magnetom Vida makes it possible to perform examinations without respiratory arrest, which is important for children and patients in serious condition.

works quieter than regular MRIs.
